802.11n/MIMO Technology
Silvus offers industry leading 802.11n baseband and MAC intellectual property for ASIC or FPGA implementation.
802.11n provides significant performance advantages over previous generations of Wi-Fi, both at the physical and MAC layers. The advantage can be utilized to provide either greatly increased throughput or extended range.
- Any MIMO configuration from 1x1 to 4x4, including asymmetric such as 2x3 or 1x4
- Full support available for STBC and combined STBC/spatial-multiplexing
- FPGA based validation platform supporting up to 4x4 and customer validated silicon
- MAC software available on multiple processor architectures
- Support for multiple RF providers including Maxim and Airoha
- Availability of licensable RF from partner companies
- Proprietary interference cancellation based on spatial nulling available
Tailoring 802.11n to a particular application, whether targeting power conservation, extreme performance, cost sensitivity, or some combination of these factors, is a complicated task. Compared to 11a/b/g, 802.11n has an almost endless number of options and configurations. A device such as a TV that receives far more data than it transmits might best utilize a 1x2 or 2x4 design. A portable camcorder might benefit from the opposite... a 2x1. A home gateway may require a simultaneous dual-band 3x3 or 4x4. Silvus can help tailor a custom solution for ASIC or SoC integration to optimize value within a customer's application space.
